I get to see this glow, every night for hours, splash over my apartment.
One of my favorite things.
Tonight, it was this amazing orangey purple glow. Until it became one of the most stunning lighting storms …
Courtney and I had ever seen.
Except for this one time I spent hours on the balcony down the shore capturing all kinds of crazy weather.
Nothing like nights when my camera doesn’t leave my hands..
In the last few days, I have been able to enjoy a lot of my favorite things.
Whirled Peace FroYo.
Plain Tart, with Organic Peanut Butter, Carob Chips, and Raspberries.
And Bubble Tea too. They won my heart with a little tapioca… Next time I might bring almond milk since even skim irks me these days, but the Masala Chai did my heart good. (Thank you Lani for my smile yesterday).
No saddness is free from Aunt Tita’s food. Nana and Tita know when I don’t sound like myself on the phone… and for Tita there is only one solution besides kisses.
With so much love in it, her food could make the entire world feel better. One spoon full of chicken soup with arabic rice added in and all my troubles got lost in that emotional continuum where really good food sends them. And homemade hummus, with Trader Joe’s bean chips, a Tita treat that is quite hard to describe.
And then tonight, Court and I storm chased our way to the Red Box, to rent one of my favorite movies…
Life As We Know It.
And we watched it, and ate cookies and cream skinny cow ice cream sandwiches with peanut butter slathered onto them. And we enjoyed every bite (cakey chocolate fingers too), and every minute of the movie… even if it meant breaking our 9:30 to bed midlife crisis mom routine.
