We Love to Eat.

My Aunt Vera and I have this little thing we sing every time we are together at a dining table.

It goes a little something like this … “Weee looveee to eeeeat”.

If there was a way to combine that little song with Happy Birthday, we would’ve this week. All I did was e a t. And l o v e every minute of it.

It started with my favorite, a home cooked lunch by Tita.

It ended with a 3 hour dinner at Paramour in the Wayne Hotel.

There was…

Tita’s Arabic Chicken with Lebanese Cous Cous and delicious pearl onions.

Tita’s most perfect hummus with warm pita and baby carrots.

Fattoush salad with crispy pita and sweet and tangy pomegranate dressing.

… and Daddy getting his hands in everything.

A little Birthday cake from Sweet Jazmine’s in Berwyn.

A layer of chocolate chip pound cake and a layer of chocolate cake with caramel buttercream in between and a vanilla italian meringue buttercream covering it.

And then a few hours later, there was dinner.

Restaurant of Choice:

Paramour at the Wayne Hotel in Wayne, PA.

A complimentary taste of the chef’s creativity … A mini profiterole stuffed with the most delicious cheese, to be dipped in a side of dulce de leche.

Caramelized Cauliflower soup with Lobster.

Pancetta and Watercress Flat Bread.

Dad split between two plates the giant Chop Chop salad. Romaine with Roasted Wild Turkey, Carrots, Baby Green Beans, Roasted Beets, Chic Peas, Dried Cranberries, Toasted Almonds, and Champagne Vinaigrette.

Chestnut Ravioli with Lola Duck, Chantrelle mushrooms, and Brown Butter sauce.

All paired beautifully with a bottle of  2008 Sangiovese Seghesio.

3 peas in a pod. Love you both!

And a beautiful dessert to end the night.

Peanut Butter Caramel Marshmallow maddness.

Paramour is … a restaurant you all must try. Forgive them for their messy menu ideas: if you are in the dining room ask for the bar menu in order to really get the true feel for all that the Chef has up his sleeve. The dining room menu just seems incomplete, and sort of bare. The bar menu boasts a few delicious entree salads and enticing flat breads and fun apps that I don’t see a reason to have ignored. But after careful study of both menus, each dish we ordered was wonderful, presented nicely, seasoned without a heavy hand, and although mostly predictable, I was impressed with the occasional exciting twist the menu displayed. The chestnut raviolis needed a few more minutes in the pot, yet that is the kind of taste I like to see. A bit daring, certainly comforting, and just plain different.

Next time I hope to actually give the food the proper photo shoot it deserves.

🙂

A twenty-third birthday that was just as the food that made it up … excellent.

Thank you to everyone that sent me loving wishes and to my family and friends that made my day so special.

…. to many more delicious days!
